Root canal treatment

From $2,800 MXN

All prices are in Mexican pesos (MXN), not US dollars, and are reference prices: the exact cost for your case is given to you in writing at the assessment, before any treatment starts.

What moves the price up or down

How many canals the tooth has

A front tooth usually has one canal; a molar can have three or four. More canals means more working time and therefore a higher cost.

Whether the tooth was treated before

A retreatment — reopening a canal that was already worked on — takes longer than a first-time root canal.

How much tooth is left

If little structure remains, the tooth needs a crown afterwards so it doesn't fracture. Crowns are quoted separately, from $6,500 MXN.

Whether there is infection

With an active infection or abscess we deal with the pain and infection first, which can add one visit.

What the price includes

  • Assessment and X-ray of the tooth
  • Local anaesthetic
  • Cleaning and sealing of the canals
  • Temporary restoration when we finish
  • Aftercare instructions and follow-up

What happens if you wait

A tooth with a damaged nerve does not heal on its own. Wait too long and the infection spreads into the bone, and the tooth can become impossible to save — then the option is no longer a $2,800 MXN root canal but an extraction plus an implant or bridge, which costs several times more. Treating early is almost always the cheaper choice.

Frequently asked questions

Does a root canal hurt?

No. It is done under local anaesthetic, and what most people feel is relief, because the treatment removes the nerve pain. Mild soreness for a day or two afterwards is normal and manageable with a painkiller.

How many visits do I need?

Many cases are finished in a single visit. With a significant infection or a retreatment, two visits may be needed.

Do I always need a crown afterwards?

Not always, but it is recommended for molars because they carry the force of your bite. At the assessment we tell you whether your tooth needs one and what it would cost.

Is treatment explained in English?

Yes. Jessica speaks English, so the diagnosis, the options and the cost are explained in English before anything is done.

Do you treat patients from other cities?

Yes. We treat patients from Saucillo, La Cruz, Jiménez, Delicias, Parral and Chihuahua city, as well as visitors from the United States.
