What the visit is like

Assessment and diagnosis
We review your bite, teeth and gums. If there is decay or tartar, we treat it before placing braces.

Written plan and cost
We explain what will be moved, roughly how long it takes and what it costs, adjustment visits included.

Placement
Braces and the archwire are fitted. No anaesthetic needed, and you leave the same day with care instructions.

Regular adjustments
Check-ups every few weeks to change elastics and wire. A retainer is fitted at the end to hold the result.
Frequently asked questions
Do braces hurt?
Placement does not hurt. Pressure or soreness in the first days and after each adjustment is normal, and is handled with a common painkiller and soft food.
How long does treatment take?
It depends on how much the teeth need to move. Most cases run in months rather than weeks, and we give you an estimate for your case at the assessment.
Are braces an option for adults?
Yes. There is no age limit as long as gums and bone are healthy; many of our patients start as adults.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes, orthodontics is paid in stages. Ask about the options at your assessment.
