How much does a dental cleaning cost?

A dental cleaning costs from $650 Mexican pesos (MXN) at DentCare in Ciudad Camargo, Chihuahua. That covers removing tartar and plaque, polishing and a general check in a single visit. If tartar has moved below the gum line, the case needs a deep cleaning, quoted at the assessment.

What changes the price

Whether tartar is below the gum

Once tartar sits under the gum line a deep cleaning is needed, sometimes by area and across more than one visit.

The state of your gums

With bleeding or marked inflammation we add gum treatment and a review visit to check that it improved.

What the cleaning includes

  • Check of teeth and gums
  • Ultrasonic removal of tartar and plaque
  • Polishing of the surfaces
  • Brushing and flossing guidance for your case
  • Any decay or problem we find, with its cost

What waiting costs

Tartar that is not removed pushes the gum back and eventually reaches the bone holding the tooth, and that bone loss does not come back. A $650 MXN cleaning once a year is the cheapest part of dentistry; the expensive part is the fillings, root canals and crowns that show up when it is skipped.

Treatment is done by C.D. Jessica Vázquez, endodontics specialist, professional license 10837412. She speaks Spanish and English.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I have a cleaning?

Every six months for most people, or once a year with very good hygiene. If you smoke or your gums bleed when brushing, more often is better.

Does a cleaning hurt?

Usually not. There can be sensitivity if the gums are inflamed or there is a lot of tartar; deep cleanings are done with local anaesthetic.

Does a cleaning whiten my teeth?

It is not the same thing. A cleaning removes tartar, coffee and tobacco stains so teeth look brighter, but it does not change the natural shade of the tooth — that is whitening.

Can it be done with braces?

Yes, and it matters more than ever, because braces trap plaque. We clean around the appliances.
